Surfing is one of the most rewarding but difficult sports to practice, as it requires considerable passion, dedication, constancy, and some good old iron will.
Each path and success times are strictly personal but on average, it can take years to become a decent surfer ( and only if you’re willing to train at least three or four times a week! ).
Many often give up because it takes quite long to master a skill but what is required to be the best in the game?
The first thing that you need to keep in mind in the surf, is that the wave is predominant and not the one surfing it, as many think. An experienced professional anticipates the wave before it arrives, lets himself completely flow with it, and eventually regains control by dominating it.
Intuition and discipline are therefore fundamental skills to develop, as well as having a good musculature and physical preparation: in fact, surfing is a dynamic sport that keeps the whole body in motion. Furthermore, as you can guess, it´s essential to be an excellent swimmer and to not be scared by the massive waves, which can reach up to three or even four meters!
Famous for its rough sea, Tenerife hosts tons of surfers from all over the world but only a few manage to rank among the first and achieve greatness.

Best Male Young Surfer
Paolo Giorgi started his career as a pupil of the well-known Nacho Sebastia and over time, they eventually established a creative collaboration; by learning from one other, the young surfer achieved a successful career. His results are certainly due to his training routine, including surf skate, which turns out to be an essential tool to master the technique.
For sure he is the biggest social media influencer on the island!

Marco Teichner, half German and half Dominican, started surfing when he moved to the Canary Islands, at the age of only 12. Right from the start, his biggest goal was to qualify for the Olympic Games and even if he hasn´t gotten there yet, he achieved outstanding results: the 4th place in the Spanish Grom Search League and the 25th place in the Isa World Junior, California. He is in the national surfing german team.

The surf prodigy Yael Peña, despite his young age, has already been champion of the Rip Curl GromSearch in 2016 and proclaimed as the best Spanish sub16 surfer in 2o17, which made him one of the most followed and recognized athletes.

Lenni Jensen has been passionate about watersports for most of his life, and more precisely, from the moment he moved to Tenerife and started to practice Kitesurfing, Windsurfing and Bodyboarding. His dedication led him to rank among the top 100 of the World Surf League, in which he has been participating for years. He is in the national surfing german team with the famous Leon Glatzer.
